Quote of the Week
"I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to become comfortable with a book, not daunted. Books shouldnt be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage."

Sho Shu Martial Arts Week 4
I have a confession to make. I have been having internet troubles for the past week. We had the guy here so many times and I cannot imagine why he cannot figure out what is wrong.

During the day, I can steel an hour or two to blog at free internet cafes but doing Shou Shu Martial Arts is a whole different story. I took this as a learning experience to see if I remember what I previously learned. In a way, it was like a mini test for me and it was amazing. I got to really focus on areas of improvement and keep up with my kick-punch routine.
As I was able to check my e-mails, the Shou Shu Martial Arts instructor gave some really great tips on how to keep at it. This week he mentioned that the gi is super important. It is not only helpful for a live class, but when you are in uniform it transforms you. I have briefly taken martial arts as a child and we did not have to wear the gi. I think this will be great experience to wear it for the first time.
I hope it arrives before the end of the week so I can see how staying in uniform helps me out. I will report back to you my progress doing Shou Shu Martial Arts in full uniform.
Did you take martial arts as a child?
Did you have to wear a gi?
Healthy Week
Over the past few years, I have been trying to help my family make healthier decisions. Yes we still (occasionally) got out for ice cream and order popcorn, but overall we have been making changes to help lead a healthier happier lifestyle.
As a result, this week I will be hosting a health week. There will be a lot going on from products to help mom and kids eat healthy as well as a few tips to help get your kids more active. And yes at the end of the week on Friday, I will be extending health week to show all of you moms a product I think you will enjoy.
Just some tips that helped my family get started was we took it one step at a time. We did not just jump and change our lifestyle around but we made the changes gradually. For example one month we took to adding whole wheat flour while a different month was starting sports. By now we are making overall better choices but like I said we took it slowly.
Over this week, I will be updating my blog daily to help share with you some tips and tricks that you can try. I will be gearing the post for all sorts of situations so I will have something for everyone.
What are some of the changes you have made to help motivate your family to be healthy?
